To enable Prescott residents to properly dispose of household hazardous waste, the City of Prescott Solid Waste Division is hosting a "Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day" on March 20, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Residents should bring acceptable items to the City of Prescott Transfer Station, 2800 Sundog Ranch Road.
Yavapai County is joining with the City to host the event and both Prescott and unincorporated Yavapai County residents may participate with proof of residency. A driver's license or utility bill must be provided.
Acceptable items include: Acids, antifreeze, appliances, batteries, car batteries, cleaners, electronics, fluorescents, Freon, fuel tanks, oil base paint, paint remover, paint thinner, pesticides, smoke detectors, tires, and used oil (maximum 5 gallons per vehicle).
Prescription and over the counter drugs: Remove your pills/capsules/tablets from their containers and put them into a zip-top bag. Liquids, salves, ointments, and aerosols can stay in their original container, and after tightening the cap, enclose them in a zip-top bag.
Items that will not be accepted include: Ammunition, asbestos, commercial (business) waste, commercial vehicle tires (tractors, tractor trailer, and heavy equipment), explosives, fireworks, propane tanks, home-generated medical waste, latex paint, household garbage, items in plastic trash bags, radioactive waste, or any other material or items not included in the "acceptable item" list above.
