The City’s Stormwater Management group oversees all stormwater related issues in the City, including reviews of drainage plans for subdivisions and commercial site development, administering the FEMA National Flood Insurance Program, and ensuring surface water quality compliance.
Stormwater runoff is flow from rain or snowmelt that does not percolate into the ground. As it flows over paved, dirt, and landscaped surfaces, it can pick up debris, chemicals, soil and other pollutants. Stormwater then flows untreated into the nearest creek or lake.
Runoff from the built environment is unavoidable. However, we can work to reduce the pollutants entering our waterways.
By making careful choices in our homes and businesses, we can keep our creeks, lakes, and communities healthy.
