Winter Storm – Prepare for Ice – January 7-8, 2016

The Street Maintenance Division is working 24-hours a day to keep the streets clear in the City of Prescott. The current storm system has been relatively warm up to this point, but the National Weather Service is predicting lower night-time temperatures through the weekend.

Ice may be present on roadways at any time for the next several days due to low temperatures, and will be more problematic in shaded areas. Citizens are cautioned to plan extra time for travel and to use caution while driving, especially at night.

Residents are requested to avoid parking on the street when possible. On-street parking can lead to ineffective plowing, increase the time it takes to clear all the streets, and as snow near the vehicles melts, it can cause icy spots to form on roadways.
